So today is thirsty thursday I’m trying to keep with a theme here on thursday.
It’s summer and it’s time for fruit and light drinks and food.
Lets not weigh our selves down with heavy stuff.
I mean unless…. Eh never mind lets talk about watermelon.
This drink doesn’t have booze in it but you could totally add rum or vodka. SOOOOOOO GOOD!
I mean it’s good with out it too!
It reminds me of bubblegum and lollipops from when I was a kid.
I may make a watermelon float in the near future for a summer treat I mean who doesn’t like ice cream floats? Cra-zee people that’s who.
Anyway back on track. This is light and refreshing. It’s a good boost for a pick me up when you are feeling tired. Kick that coffee habit fruit is a natural energizer. A good tip is to eat fruit before and after a nice work out.
Are you having a cook out for Memorial Day? If so this is a good drink to have and it’s super easy and you can make it the day before.
Watermelon Agua Fresca
Yield: each flavor serves about 4
Total Time: 10 minutes
1/2 watermelon, seeded and cubed (about 2 cups)
1 cup water
3 limes, juiced
2 tablespoons sugar
Add watermelon to a blender and blend until completely pureed. Using a fine mesh sieve, pour puree through into a large bowl or measuring cup, using a spoon to press the last of the liquid out when you get to the end. Combine watermelon juice, water, lime juice and sugar in a large pitcher. Taste and add more sugar if needed. You can also stir in some fresh mint leaves (or just garnish the drinks with them) for taste. Chill until cold.
