I enjoy Cherry Limeade. So I thought I would try making a Cherry Lime syrup. Its sweet and tart. I like it! and it’s amazing to drink in 80 degree weather like today! It’s a perfect day for this cherry lime syrup. It’s kinda like a Shierly Temple but for adults. Remember the Shirley Temple Floats I made a while back? This would be delicious with a buttery Ice cream not just soda…
Anyway. So in the last 2 months I have lost 30 lbs. My pants are to loose. That can be a problem considering my job has a stupid dress code. I mean maybe they can buy me pants that aren’t white and see through? I don’t need people looking through my pants it’s weird and creepy. It’s bad enough when you have to fight to get a new work shirt… Only after I give up my soul and first-born child I can only have a shirt. If only they weren’t cheaply made and have them fall apart after a few washes or have them shrink on you. Not only do they shrink they shrink upwards not inwards its pretty annoying and dumb. Anyway back to my syrup. I decided to make these also because I am losing weight and this way with homemade sodas i can watch my sugar intake.
So easy to make. Water, sugar, frozen cherries, and a whole lime. scrumptious.
Cherry Lime Syrup
makes 2 cups
3 cups water
1 (16-ounce) bag frozen cherries, thawed of still frozen is fine.
juice of a whole lime
1 cup sugar
In a saucepan, combine water, frozen cherries, lime juice (and why not toss in the entire lime), and sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl. Using a spatula, press the cherries into the strainer, releasing any juices. Return the warm, strained liquid to the saucepan. Bring to a boil once again, reduce heat and simmer for about 20-30 minutes, until syrup is reduced to 2 cups of liquid.
Place in a jar and allow to cool in the refrigerator.
To make cherry soda, add a few tablespoons of cherry syrup to iced soda water. Enjoy!
